Abstract
The theme of the teaching-research link occupies an important place in the discourse about the issues of higher education and its outcomes. It discusses the need to narrow these functions effectively to help improve teaching practice and raise the level of training of students. Are striking findings of this analysis on the current status of this integration, characterized by a weakened influence of research in teaching and marked separation of these processes. This paper presents some considerations about the purpose of contributing to problematize and motivate those who have the responsibility of leading the university educational processes, with the aim of awakening interest, recognizing the existence of the problem, its impact on the quality educational, and generate the necessary debate to guide actions to overcome the inertia that consume the work of research and university teaching. In this regard, it has focused on the design aspects of integration, the factors influencing the current situation, the situation in the case of Venezuela, and the outlook for the current complexity.
