Abstract

This article presents the results of research conducted to analyze the integration of emerging technologies into the new engineering programs offered and planned by the “Santiago Mariño” Polytechnic University Institute. A projective research design based on a case study was employed, with a SWOT analysis used for diagnostic purposes. The analysis revealed institutional strengths, such as its network of agreements and commitment to research, but also weaknesses related to technological infrastructure and the lack of updated artificial intelligence content in the current curricula. Six (6) new engineering programs were designed: Gas, Nanotechnology, Business, Mechatronics, Production, and Telecommunications. These programs are based on institutional evidence and global trends to meet current labor and technological demands. Among other aspects, the new programs are characterized by their innovative curriculum, active learning methodologies, and university-industry partnerships. Furthermore, ethical, legal, and pedagogical challenges were identified, and comprehensive strategies involving teacher training, infrastructure investment, and supportive public policies were recommended to overcome them. The added value lies in offering a replicable model for Latin American educational institutions, aimed at bridging the gap between traditional training and the skills required in the digital age.
